.Shakespeare was the third child of eight born to John and Mary Shakespeare but the first son, and the first child to survive past infancy. In the year of his birth, plague struck Stratford, although the Shakespeare household was spared. William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, allegedly on April 23, 1564. Church records from Holy Trinity Church indicate that he was baptized there on April 26, 1564. baptised 26 April 1564; died 23 April 1616.
